Wheel and Pulley Drawing System
By: Rowan
Project Description
My drawings were inspired by Jackson Pollock's Paintings. My original idea was to build a wheel and pulley out of cardboard. The first and second prototype had many challenges to overcome. One of which was I wanted to put a motor on the wheel to automatically spin it so it could be independent. I ended up trying 3 different motors which did not have enough torque to rotate the wheel, so I built a hand crank instead. This worked almost flawlessly and took me very little time to build. I eventually got everything to work well enough and finished up my project.
Verb
Rotate
Medium
Version 1 Uses Ink
Version 2 Uses Markers and Homemde Paintbrushes
Mechanism
Wheel & Axel
My drawing machine was designed for the verb rotate. It experiments with different drawing mediums.
The machine uses a wheel and Axel mechanism
Sketch
This wheel and pulley system was supposed to spin and pick up ink and then toss or drop it off on the other side.
Version 1.0
Version 2.0
We tried to use a servo and DC motors but the amount of torque they put out wasn't enough to turn the wheel so I ended up scrapping both ideas and decided to just build a hand crank.
