One success me and my partner had making this project is that we got it to function, a failure we had is that it only works 90-15 degrees. So it doesn't work on the equator or at 5-10 degrees above it.
Our sun dial is a crescent with a round base and a string running from each point of the crescent.
So the string cast a shadow onto the plate and the shadow lays over a point that we would call one o'clock. A sundial uses the angle of the sun that cast light onto a gnomon that cast a shadow onto a specific time. building a sundial in astronomy is important because we are working at the same pace as a early astronomer.
